Uber expects about 700 fully driverless vehicles on its platform by end of 2026 and 2,000+ in 2027

Uber said in its third-quarter 2026 results on Nov. 4 that it expects about 700 fully driverless vehicles on its platform by the end of this year and more than 2,000 in 2027. CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said Uber's autonomous focus "is now on commercial execution."

The release didn't say which robotaxi partners or cities those vehicles will come from. Uber has more than 30 autonomous partners across robotaxis, delivery robots, drones and trucking, Axios reported in September, and has made milestone-based investments in several, including Rivian, Lucid, Nuro and Waabi.

The core business grew too: gross bookings rose 20% to $59.8 billion and trips rose 16% to 4.1 billion.

Why it matters

The driverless numbers are Uber's own forecast, not vehicles on the road today, and the release didn't say how many fully driverless vehicles run on Uber now.
