Waymo pioneer Sebastian Thrun's new startup Dulo raises $130M

Sebastian Thrun, who led the Google project that became Waymo and helped start Google Brain, has a new startup called Dulo, The Information reported on Oct. 29, 2026. According to the report, Dulo has raised $130 million to build AI models that can design planes, cars and other complex hardware. Thrun co-founded Dulo earlier this year with Adrian Aoun, who confirmed the funding on X, SiliconANGLE reports. SiliconANGLE says investors include former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, early Google investor Ram Shriram, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, venture capitalist John Doerr and more than half a dozen startup funds. Dulo has not disclosed a valuation, and its one-page website says it is building foundation models for hardware design.

Why it matters

SiliconANGLE notes Thrun listed robotics among Dulo's focus areas in August, so AI design tools like these could eventually shorten how long it takes to engineer robots and vehicles. Dulo has not shown results yet.
