NEURA Robotics partners with E.ON and enviaM to train robots, with humanoids in view, for power grid inspections and substation monitoring
NEURA Robotics announced on November 5 that it is partnering with German energy company E.ON and eastern German energy provider enviaM to develop Physical AI for power grid operations. The partners say the focus will first be on inspections, monitoring critical assets such as substations, and supporting site security, with physically demanding, repetitive or potentially hazardous tasks also being assessed.

The robot skills will first be trained and tested at TUM RoboGym powered by NEURA, the robot training center NEURA and the Technical University of Munich opened at the LabCampus at Munich Airport in October. Skilled workers will demonstrate procedures there, and the training will combine those demonstrations with real-world robot data and simulations. The skills will be offered through NEURA's Neuraverse platform.
enviaM's grid subsidiary MITNETZ STROM will then test the first applications in real grid operations. enviaM CEO Stephan Lowis said humanoid robots can support workers with physically demanding or safety-critical tasks, and that the companies expect initial practical experience during 2027. According to the partners, E.ON and enviaM keep control of their data and trained skills. The partners say humanoid robots such as NEURA's 4NE1 could in future move through facilities built for people, using stairs, doors and control cabinets, without modifications.
